Serving Whitman County since 1877
Whitman County Library and Community Action Center plan sessions on the Low Income Energy Assistance Program which offers a one-time payment to help qualified residents make their energy bills more affordable. The funding pays a portion of energy costs, but the payment is not intended to cover the yearly cost of a residence.
Programs have been scheduled Tuesday, April 10 – Tekoa 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 30 – Garfield 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and every Wednesday and Thursday at the Colfax Council on Aging Office.
To qualify, a family’s annual income must meet the eligibility guidelines. To schedule an appointment, please contact Community Action toll free at (800) 482-3991. All participants must provide Social Security cards for everyone in the household photo ID for all adults, proof of income (before taxes or deductions) for the previous three month, a current energy bill and if applicable, proof of college financial aid and child support payments.
