Genealogical Society to conduct spring seminar

The Whitman County Genealogical Society (WCGS) will hold a spring mini-seminar Saturday, April 21 at Bishop Place in Pullman, 811 Southeast Klemgard Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

To begin, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Horace Alexander Young, clinical associate professor of saxophone and jazz history at WSU, will discuss three late servicemen; Col. Charles Young, U.S. Army 9th and 10th Cavalry (Buffalo Soldiers), Lt. Col. Clarence L. Shivers, U.S. Air Force (Tuskegee Airman); and Lt. Col. Jack D. Holsclaw, U.S. Army (Tuskegee Airman & WSU Alumni).

From 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Father Mike Savelesky, a retired Catholic pastor from Spokane now serving Holy Rosary Parish in Rosalia and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in St John and Diocesan Archivist, will give a presentation on Catholic Church records and sacramental books, parish census directories and other available resources for researchers.
