Speed limits on three roads

Whitman County commissioners Monday approved new speed limits for three stretches of county road.

For trucks on Hume Road, the speed limit stays at 35 mph. The commissioners made it official after County Public Works Director Mark Storey was unable to find records to confirm the speed was ever approved in the first place.

“Simply we couldn’t find a way to substantiate what we’ve been doing,” said Storey.

Speed limits are set by action of commissioners, upon recommendation of county engineers.
