Meet Wes and Shelby Hennigar
Shelby and Wes Hennigar at the Farm Chicks Vintage & Handmade Show in the Spokane Valley. Some of you may be familiar with the saying, “A family that plays together, stays together.” Well, what about an extended family that plays together, works together, rides together, laughs together and is simply, always together? Let me introduce you to the Hennigar family. I first met the Hennigar women at the softball park. They are a lively bunch of fun-loving gals. It is apparent from the first time you meet them that they are comfortable with each other, fond of laughing and just plain like to have a good time. Wes and Shelby Hennigar are married to twin brothers. In fact, they were married just months apart in the same year.
Wes was born and raised in Colfax and is happy to now be raising her children in the community that she loves. She is a graduate of CHS, the class of 1999. Wes is married to Andy Hennigar. They are the proud parents of three children. They have two daughters, Harley and Riley, and a son, Brody. Wes is a cosmetologist and has worked for the last 12 years at Bliss Salon in Colfax. Andy is in business with his twin brother, Charly.
Shelby is married to Charly Hennigar. Shelby was also born and raised in Colfax. She is a graduate of CHS, the class of 1997. Shelby and Charly are the proud parents of four children, Trace, Trent, Lola and Ty. Shelby is a registered nurse and works as a school nurse for the Colfax School District. She also works at Pullman Regional Hospital in the birthplace. In her spare time, she can often be found refurbishing furniture with her sister-in-law and good friend, Wes.
Wes and Shelby have known each other their whole lives. Now, they not only share the same last name, but a passion for refurbishing furniture as well.
Their passion started with creating a few things for their families. Before they knew it, they found themselves starting to sell items they had each painted or repurposed. They love giving items a fresh look and new life.
It started as a hobby for them and soon became a business they call “The Rustic Star.” The duo has stayed busy creating and selling their products ever since then. In the last seven years they have held a few events in Colfax and have enjoyed having a booth several times at the Farm Chicks Vintage & Handmade Fair. This event is held the first full weekend of June at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana Street, Spokane Valley. The fair is all indoors.

1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp. salt

Soften yeast in warm water (110 degrees F.) Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add one-and-one-half cups flour, beat well. Beat in yeast and egg. On lightly floured surface, roll out half the dough to form a 16x8-inch rectangle. Combine sugar, butter and orange peel; spread over dough. Roll lengthwise, seal edge and cut in one-inch slices. Place cut side down in greased 9x9x2-inch pan. Cover; let rise until double in size (30-40 minutes.) Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Remove from pan.
