Pullman League of Women voters plans candidate forums next Tuesday, July 17, at the library in Colfax, and Wednesday, July 18, at the Neill Library in Pullman. The Colfax session will be from 7 to 9 p.m. and the Pullman session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
At Colfax, candidates for three county offices and two candidates of five candidates for 5th District representative are scheduled to appear.
U.S. Representative candidates Democrat Lisa Brown and Trump Populist Party member Dave Saulito have confirmed they will participate. Republican incumbent Cathy McMorris Rodgers reported she will be unavailable, and two other candidates on the primary ballot have not responded to the league’s invitation.
Candidates for three county races are incumbent county Commissioner Michael Largent of Colfax and challenger John Mark Mahnky of Pullman, auditor candidates Sandy Jamison of Garfield and Eric Fejeran of Pullman, and incumbent treasurer Mark Clinton and challenger Christina Nelson of Endicott.
The July 18 session in Pullman will include the three candidates for district court judge and the candidates for state representative.
The three candidates for judge are John Hart, Dan LeBeau and Rob Rembert, all of Pullman.
Candidates for the legislature are Republican incumbent Mary Dye of Pomeroy and Democrat challenger Jenn Goulet of Pasco, for position one, Republican incumbent Joe Schmick of Colfax and Democrat challenger Matthew Sutherland of Pullman for position two.
Attendees for the format can write out questions for the candidates. The questions will be presented at the sessions by a moderator from the league.
