Backs Sutherland

I am a 70-year old retired woman. After earning a BSc. in Biochemistry from Washington State University in 1970, I spent 45 years as a research technician/lab manager at universities around the country, including WSU and the University of Idaho. I was politically active during my time as a student at WSU (think Vietnam, Nixon and Cambodia), but then, as they say, “Life happened.” The country was basically running along OK, so my activism scaled back to regularly voting. But now, I again feel that my country is going badly astray and we need change to get back on track. That is why I am supporting Matt Sutherland for Representative for the 9th Legislative District of Washington.

Matt is a strong proponent of funding K-12 public education, including reduced-price meals; his opponent is not. Matt believes in maintaining and improving our public infrastructure-physical (roads, bridges, water systems) and communication (cell and internet access) across the district; his opponent has a spotty record on such things. Matt believes in improving access for all his constituents to affordable health care and equal pay for equal work in a safe work environment; based on his voting record, his opponent does not value these things.

I feel we need a dose of new blood representing the 9th, someone who will represent all of us in the district with innovative and viable ideas. I believe Matt Sutherland can deliver for us.
