Panther netters stop early Colfax run

Asotin defeated Colfax in three straight Tuesday night on the Panthers' court to stop the Bulldogs early run in the NE league. The Panthers edged Colfax 25-23 in the first game, battled to a 26-24 win in the second game and then dominated 25-13 to take it in three straight.

Asotin's Adrienne Washington hit seven aces against the Bulldogs, and Kinsie Miller rapped six kills.

Asher Cai and Perry Imler each hit for kills for Colfax, and Kylie Kackman had seven assists. Madi Cox scooped 11 digs.

The win advances Asotin to 3-1 in league play. Colfax now stands at 3-1.

Colfax last Thursday extended with NE win streak by rolling out a three-game win over Reardan before a homecoming crowd. The Bulldogs won after battling through a 30-28 seesaw extension of the first game.

In the second game, Reardan posted an early 10-point lead, 19-9, but the Bulldogs roared back with 16 straight points for a 25-19 win.

Sophie Klaveano, who finished the match with eight aces, served a string of 15 during the big Colfax charge.

Colfax took the third game 25-14 win, Kierstyn York serving a string early to get the lead. Freshman Abree Aune went to the serving line and finished the match with four aces.

Line score for the Colfax win was 30-28, 25-19 and 25-14. The match win put Colfax at 3-0 against NE foes before the trip to Asotin Tuesday where the Panthers ended the string.

Colfax is scheduled to play Tekoa/Rosalia on the home court tonight. The Timberwolves will arrive after losing to Liberty who took a win in three straight, 25-10, 25- 7 and 25-23, in the Tuesday league round with Elise Wilkins hitting six kills and Trista Bogenreif putting up 21 assists for Tekoa/Rosalia.

In the Thursday NE round, TR lost to Asotin, 25-8, 25-18, 25-22.
