Pump Up Your Financial Fitness! Women in Agriculture Conference scheduled for Moscow

On Oct. 27, the 2018 Women in Agriculture Conference will offer women in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Alaska a unique opportunity to gather in 35 different locations for a one-day event featuring knowledgeable speakers, inspiring stories, networking with other producers and practical advice for learning new skills.

“Last year, over 600 women attended,” said Margaret Viebrock, Conference Chair. “Many attendees reported it is the best conference for women producers because it presents practical information they can use right away.”

This year’s conference theme, “Pump Up Your Financial Fitness! Strengthen your Farm Operation with a Healthy Cash Flow” is for women farmers and anyone working with women farmers. If you are an experienced farmer, new or aspiring farmer, college student, 4H or FFA member, a banker, or representative of agricultural industry, this conference is for you. Supporting spouses, interns and friends are also welcome.

Featured speakers for the day include Robin Reid, Farm Economist with Kansas State University Extension; LaVell Winsor, Farm Analyst with Kansas State University Extension, and Sarah Beth Aubrey, Author and Farmer with Aubrey Coaching & Training, LLC. Reid and Winsor will speak on How Does Your Cash Flow?

They will emphasize the importance of sound recordkeeping, how to analyze businesses and make decisions based upon farm financials. Participants will learn strategies to make projections and monitor cash flow.

Aubrey will speak on Women: You are a Valuable Part of Agriculture. Sarah Beth and her family raise cattle and launched a retail meat business. Her mission is to help women be successful and profitable doing “what they love the most.” The speakers will challenge participants to strengthen their farm financial management skills and become leaders in their communities. Each location will also have a panel of local women who will talk about their leadership roles, challenges they have faced and how they have learned from a mentor and mentored others. Join us for a day of learning and networking.
