Marjorie L. Emerson, 90, a resident of Potlatch, Idaho, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, Idaho.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1928, at Decker, Mont., to Clifford and Bessie (Fiscus) Ireland. She attended her schooling In Montana, Deary, Idaho, and graduated from Moscow High School in 1945.
She married Ellis Emerson on Oct. 24, 1948, at Deary, and the couple made their home in the West Cove area near Palouse, Wash.
In 1968 she started working for the Forest Service at Potlatch and worked as a road survey and design technician for the St. Joe Ranger District until she retired in 1988.
Marjorie was a Sunday school teacher at the Freeze Church and Elmore United Methodist Church for several years. She enjoyed camping, hunting, taking pictures and family activities. She also enjoyed fun times at their lake property at Garfield Bay on Lake Pend Oreille.
Survivors include her Husband of nearly 70 years, Ellis Emerson, Potlatch; two sons, Myron Emerson (Verlynn), Potlatch, and Jerry Emerson, St. Maries, Idaho; a daughter, Janet Beckner (John), Potlatch, and a sister, Jean Cromer, Clarkston, Wash. Marjorie is also survived by eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Ireland, and one great-grandchild, Brayden Ross Woolverton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Elmore United Methodist Church with Kathy Kramer officiating. Her ashes will be buried at the Avon Cemetery near Deary, Idaho, at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, ID. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church.
