Colfax volleyball players pegged a solid three-game win over Asotin on the home court Tuesday night to revenge a loss sustained at Asotin earlier in the season.
The Bulldogs Tuesday downed the Panthers 25-18, 25-17 and 25-10. The win puts them on top of the league with one more match left. They will play the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves at Tekoa tonight for the league wrapper.
Asotin rapped Colfax in a three-game win Sept. 25 to dent an early one win streak Colfax had posted in the NE-South league run.
Colfax is now 8-1 in the league race.
A win over the Timberwolves tonight at Tekoa will put the Bulldogs in the top slot for the South in the district finals which are slated to start next Thursday at Davenport and Reardan. The first round will match up the top finishers with the fourth-place finishers from the opposite side.
The district show will wrap up the following Thursday, Nov. 1, at Northwest Christian with three slots on the line for the state 1B show which starts Nov. 7 in Yakima.
Kierstyn York and Kylie Kackman each had eight kills Tuesday against the Panthers. Anni Cox logged 13 digs for the Bulldogs, and Madi Cox had 13 assists.
Kennedy Schmidt hit four aces against the valley club.
Colfax took the league win Tuesday after they defeated Genesee in a sweep last Thursday when they returned to the home court after four stops on the road for the first part of October.
Line score for the win was 25-18, 25-22, 25-16. Colfax led most of the way in the first game, and Genesee booked an early lead in the second game before the Bulldogs closed the gap and took the lead to post a 2-0 lead. Action was close in the third game, but the Bulldogs gradually pulled away for the sweep in the non-league match.
Anni Cox hit seven aces against the Idaho club and was credited for 16 digs. Kackman was credited with 13 assists, and York had seven kills.
Saturday, Ferris traveled to Colfax for another non-league match and defeated the Bulldogs in three straight, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-16. The match was the last of three booked by the Bulldogs against GSL foes for the season.
York and Kackman each had six kills against the Saxons. Kackman had 10 assists and Madi Cox had nine.
