Two hurt in collision at Dusty intersecton

Two people were injured Sunday afternoon in a collision at Dusty which left a boat on Highway 26 and a truck and fifth-wheel trailer in the ditch along the north side of the highway. The accident restricted traffic to one lane when westbound traffic remained heavy following the WSU football weekend.

Injured in the accident were Thomas E. Hudson, Kirkland, who sustained an arm injury, and spouse Donna Hudson, who complained of back pain.

The Hudsons were in a 2016 Ford pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel trailer which collided with a boat and trailer which were being towed across Highway 26 at Dusty at 2:05 p.m.

According to the accident report by Trooper Bruce Blood, Ronald Inman, Bonney Lake, was driving northbound on Highway 127 and stopped at the sign on the south side of the intersection. He was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup with a camper unit and towing an aluminum boat on a trailer. Inman failed to see the Hudson pickup and fifth wheel unit which was westbound on Highway 26.

Blood said Hudson attempted to avoid the collision, but their pickup hit the boat and trailer, veered off the highway and went through the guardrail on the north side of Highway 26.

The boat trailer was cut in half by the force of the collision, and the boat landed on the highway. Trooper Blood said he was able to use his patrol car to push the boat off the highway.

The Hudson truck and 2017, 41 foot, fifth-wheel sustained extensive damage in the collision.

Traffic on the highway was restricted to one lane while the boat, truck and fifth wheel were cleared from the scene.

A LaCrosse ambulance crew responded to the scene.
