With two weeks remaining in the regular season for Southeast 1B league football, Garfield/Palouse and Sunnyside Christian remain tied for first place after each won Oct. 19.
The Knights of Sunnyside Christian (7-1) got a forfeit against Touchet while Gar/Pal (7-1) blew out St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse for the second time this year. The Vikings will play at Pomeroy (4-4) Friday night followed by a re-match with Colton on the road the following week.
Sunnyside Christian plays at LaCrosse Friday against the SJEL Eagles (1-7) followed by a home game against Pomeroy to finish the regular season.
If the Knights and Gar/Pal remain tied, Sunnyside Christian will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed from the Southeast 1B due to a card draw at the beginning of the season.
Game time in LaCrosse Friday is 7 p.m.
Colton 76, Pomeroy 14
The third-place Wildcats (5-3) went west to Pomeroy Oct. 19 and dominated, quarterback Parker Druffel running for 321 yards on 19 carries in Colton’s second league win over the Pirates.
The Wildcats took an early 24-0 lead to start the game.
Druffel threw 14-for-17 for 194 yards and also returned a punt for a touchdown.
Luke Vining caught five passes in the game for 24 yards, Reece Chadwick had four for 69 and Chris Wolf three for 75.
Garfield/Palouse 52, St. John/ Endicott/LaCrosse 18
Running-back turned quarterback Caden Sanderson threw 8-for-12 for 119 yards and a touchdown Oct. 19 at home in the Vikings’ win over SJEL. Sanderson, moving to quarterback for the injured Austin Jones, also rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns. A total of six different Gar/Pal players scored.
