Gar-Pal, SJEL top race at St. John

Garfield/Palouse cross-country boys pegged the team win with 15 points, and SJEL girls bagged the girls side with 15 Tuesday in the SE league meet on the St. John Golf Course. The two winners were the only entrants to qualify for team points.

Pomeroy’s Evan Bartels won the boys side of the 5,000 meter run with an 18:44 time, 16 seconds ahead of Logan Diets of GP.

Other finishers for Garfield/Palouse were Ethan Cook, 3rd at 19:01; Danny Laughery, fifth at 20:08; William Grass, sixth at 21:37; Brandon Hall, seventh at 21:47; Christian Burt, 10th at 27:12, and Curtis Nordstrom, 11th at 30:01.

Other finishers for the Eagles were Dominic Treis, fourth at 19:34, and Tucker Thompson, eighth at 23:39. Jaden Danielson and Pedro Molina were on the finishers list without placings.

Viking Anais Mills won the girls race with a 20:57 time, and Lauren Stubbs of SJEL placed second at 21:54.

Other finishers for the Eagles team were Catherine Treis, third at 21:57; Ellie Tollett, fifth at 23:12; Marianne Treis, eighth at 26:49, and Guinevere Richmond, 11th at 28:45.

Other finishers for the Vikings were Samantha Snekvik, fourth at 22:09, and Jessica Olson, seventh at 24:21.

Olivia Knauff was listed without a time

District nine runners will join district seven runners in the regional qualifier for state Saturday at Harrington.
