Serving Whitman County since 1877
July 26, 1944 - Oct. 3, 2018
Our Aunt Kathy came into the world as Kathleen Ann Rodeen on July 26, 1944, in Moscow, Idaho, to Don and Fern Rodeen, joining her big brother, Dick. Kathy died on October 3, 2018, at Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, Wash., having spent her entire life on the Palouse, most of it in one place.
Kathy went to school in Pullman where we are sure she was the life of the party! She wore many hats throughout her life: secretary, bartender, manager, avid bowler, wife (Mrs. Terry Sharp & Mrs. George Waters), daughter and friend.
She was artistic as heck and made countless afghans, clocks, ceramics and plant hangers to name a few. At one point, Kathy hooked up with Jim Birch and the two of them opened a ceramics/hobby shop and helped to advance many an artist. Together they spent years going to flea markets and junk fairs peddling their goods.
Later in life, Kathy pretty much stuck to home, save for an occasional visit to the Casino with Fern or a road trip with her buddy Kai.
Kathy is survived by Jim; two nephews, one niece; a cousin and a sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by everyone else in her family.
The family would like to thank Eileen Roe of Colfax for all of her help with the care of Kathy as her health deteriorated. We also thank neighbor Jim Haugen for his good will towards Kathy. Goodbye Kathy, we will never forget the ride in your convertible over the "Viola cutoff bump," just like we will never forget you!
Kimball Funeral Home is caring for the family. No formal services will be held and private burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse, WA. However, we will be having an informal get together on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at My Office Tavern in Pullman for anyone who would like to come and reminisce about old times with Kathy.
