For the past 50 years, there has been a musical production put on by local students from the Colfax area. This year is no exception, as students prepare to perform the musical, Cinderella. Auditions and practice started in September and opening night scheduled for Nov. 15.
Tayma Vanek is participating in her seventh year of musical performances with director, Cary Cammack. She stated her favorite musicals have been "Music Man" and, now, "Cinderella." Tayma is filling the role of one of the step-sisters and loves it because it gives her the chance to tap into her sassiness, act out and get rewarded for it
Cammack has 26 years of experience as a CHS director and is now working with the cast after retiring from his vocal music faculty position last year.
Casey Bittle said his favorite part of the musical was making memories with friends while getting to dance and have fun on the stage.
Olivia Kellogg is in her second production and said that it can be challenging getting all the steps down for the dances. One of her favorite things is just getting the opportunity to act, in general.
Peyton Gosney kept it simple and said it is all about the shoes that she gets to wear and dancing on the stage.
Madeline Tate is in her third year of participation and fondly remembers the musical "Oklahoma" because of its light-naturedness and comedy.
Tickets for Thursday, Nov. 15, Monday the 19th, Tuesday the 20th, and Wednesday the 21st are sold at the door, first come, first served.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday must be reserved in advance by contacting Janni Burt.
