Pitts rite set for Colfax Nov. 3

Dusty native, Jon Pitts (1945-2018,) died last Wednesday, Oct. 24, at East Adams Rural Healthcare in Ritzville. Jon was the eldest child of the late Bob and Esther Pitts, local Dusty farmers. He grew up on the family farm, graduated from LaCrosse High School and attended Spokane Community College where he earned a degree in diesel mechanics and heavy equipment repair.

He married his wife, Diane, in 1977. He is survived by a stepson, Rick Malby (Neva) of Ritzville; a stepdaughter, Michelle Lortz (Don) of Airway Heights; a brother, Steve Pitts (Pam) of Minneapolis; a brother, Kim Pitts (Cindy) of Dusty, and four grandsons. A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Pastor Szasz will officiate. Jon will be buried at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. There will be no graveside service.

Kristin Repp won the third place award in the “Inspired Palouse” juried art show at the Colfax Library. Her photograph of a winter landscape was chosen out of 36 entries. Viewers are encouraged to vote for the People’s Choice Award at the exhibit which will be open until Nov. 16 at The Center in Colfax. The artist reception and presentation of cash prizes will be Nov. 17, from 5-7 p.m.

Dick and Helen Appel attended the Washington State Sheep Producers convention in Ellensburg this past weekend. Helen is the Auxiliary President, and Dick is on the board of directors.
