Dahmen barn will host 13th annual holiday gala

The 13th annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Gala at Dahmen Barn will be Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Visiting artists and craftspeople from throughout the region will join the resident artists selling their one-of-a-kind products.

More than 17 artists will feature their unique items perfect for holiday gift giving. These items include hand-dyed wool yarn, knitted items and accessories, organic, probiotic, medicinal products and skincare, jewelry braided in the Japanese Kumihimo style, European hand-folded paper stars, goat milk lotion, toys and other items.

The event is free to the public.

Soups and desserts will be available for lunch. Door prizes will be given away at 12:13, 1:13, 2:13 and 3:13.

At a make-and-take ornament table, kids and adults may make a clay ornament under the instruction of children’s ceramic instructor, Rosalie Wold, from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no cost for the first ornament under one stipulation - that the creator give the ornament to a friend or neighbor. A second ornament can be made for a donation to the children’s clay program.

Soups, breads and sweets will be available for purchase, featuring recipes in the "Artisans' Cookbook - a Pallet of Favorite Recipes," and the new cookbook "Tea at the Barn." The gift shop has been expanded with holiday specialty foods.

St. John Vets Day

Veterans Day program at St. John Heritage Museum will be Nov. 11. The museum will open at 1 p.m. and the program will begin at 2 p.m.

Pullman seniors bazaar

Pullman Senior Citizens' annual Holiday Bazaar will be Nov. 14 and 15, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Pullman Senior Center in Pullman City Hall. The bazaar will feature home made crafts, baked goods, used books, knife and scissor sharpening, sundries and lunch.

A barbecue beef sandwich, coleslaw, pie and coffee will be served for $6. All proceeds will help support the center.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Athenaeum

Athenaeum Club's Nov. 2 meeting began with a performance by members of the Colfax High School Choir and included selections from the musical “Cinderella.” Their costumes were particularly entertaining.

Chris Kackman presented information about Acadia National Park in Maine. The geology of this park was of special curiosity to the group because of its uniqueness among National Parks.

The meeting was hosted by Ruth Enos and Georgie Leinweber at the Methodist Church.

Next meeting will be a holiday celebration Dec. 7.
