Man falls down channel bank

Colfax fire and rescue crews responded to a report of a man who had fallen into the S. Palouse River Channel on the upstream side of the South Main bridge at 7:27 p.m. Friday. The man told rescuers he had climbed over the fence and fell down the channel bank. It was at the same location which was used for the Concrete River Days race entrants to slide down into the channel.

The man told rescuers he had attempted to climb down into the channel to recover an item which had been thrown off the bridge. He lost his balance and sustained an ankle injury in the fall. He was found sitting in the botto...
