Dusty families gather together for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving guests of Tom and Doreen Riedner were Alberta Riedner, Jeanette Nolan, Patty Wieber, Brett Weber, Matty Forrest, Jamie and Bobby Halbig and Evelyn and Ezra, Denise and Tony Kendall, Pam Beasley, Austin Beasley, Mike Nafziger, Kim and Graham BeDell and Sami BeDell. The Kendalls left Friday morning to beat the traffic heading back to their home in Tacoma.

David Stueckle spent from Wednesday through Saturday at the home of his daughter and family, Karen and Larry Light, in Portland.

Last Thursday, Kevin, Amber, Ashley, Kloey, Ellie and Nick Brink from Omak arrived in the Dusty area and joined his parents, Larry and Di Brink, at the home of Lucky and Joan Myrick for dinner, along with Mike Stine of LaCrosse. Friday, they celebrated an early Christmas and were joined by Mike Stine and Tom Phillips of St. John. Saturday, the group also included John, Brandi, Myla and Lexi Brink of Dusty. Kevin and his family left for their home Saturday afternoon.

Lisa and Travis Frei, Colfax, entertained the Appel family for Thanksgiving at the home of her parents, Dick and Helen Appel. In addition to the hosts and their children, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette, those attending the feast were Bruce and Elaine Appel and Charlie and Spenser, Spokane; Caroline and Rob Kunkel, Zack, Kade, Elly and Luciene, Pullman, and Neil and Liz Appel and John Paul, Grace and Michael, Dusty. Colette, Emma and Charlie celebrated their Thanksgiving birthdays.

Karen Broeckel was one of the guests at the home of Andrew and Emily Nolan and Lauren and Murphy for Thanksgiving dinner. Other guests were Nancy and Richard Tennant.

A number of local residents attended memorial services Monday for LaCrosse native Dianne Wigen Geary, daughter of the late Pete and Edna Wigen. She grew up in LaCrosse, graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1953, then later moved to Portland where she married Bob Geary. They moved to Spokane, where he passed away. She later moved to Colfax to help care for her mother. She died Nov. 21 at Whitman Hospital. She is survived by four brothers; a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
