Hargraves resigns from Pullman PD

Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins Nov. 29 reported that Police Sgt. Dan Hargraves resigned from the department on Nov. 26, which was a day before he was scheduled to be interviewed by Pullman Police Department investigators who conducted an internal investigation to determine whether Hargraves violated department policy.

Hargraves has been scheduled for a Jan. 14 trial in superior court after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual misconduct with a female WSU student March 31, after she had been taken into custody.

Chief Jenkins said that the internal investigation was completed without a statement from Hargraves, who was a member of the department for 19 years. The internal investigation concluded Hargraves' department policy violations included engaging in criminal conduct, failure to activate his body camera, failure to make proper notifications when transporting a female and improper treatment of a person in custody.

Chief Jenkins said he will start a process to have Hargraves decertified as a peace officer in the state. Decertification data is entered into a national index and available to law agencies around the country.
