Serving Whitman County since 1877
Colfax Downtown Association will sponsor a workshop on how Business and Occupation (B&O) tax payments can be used in Colfax to directly benefit the community Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7-9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at The Center at Colfax Library. This is an open house format so business owners can stop in any time during the posted hours.
Because Colfax Downtown Association is part of the Main Street program, Colfax businesses are eligible for a tax credit worth 75 per cent of the contribution for 2020 taxes. Application is made to the Department of Revenue and once approved, the business owners can select Colfax Downtown Association for their donation.
Pledges are being accepted from Jan. 16 to March 31, 2019 and participants have until Nov. of 2019 to pay their pledge and receive the tax credit for 2020. Businesses can also receive a charitable giving tax deduction in 2019 because the Downtown Association is a 501c3 organization.
Additional workshops will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Wednesday, March 20, at those same times.
