Bulldog boys win 3 in 2nd league round

Colfax boys stacked three league wins over five days in the second round of the NE-South league with the hoop season winding down. The Bulldogs finished the run Tuesday on the home court with an 89-42 runaway win over Tekoa/Rosalia, the only team to beat them in the south side campaign to date.

Colfax rolled out a 56-37 win over the LRS Broncos Saturday night at Ritzville and topped Asotin 58-42 in the Friday round on the home court.

The three wins left Colfax at 7-1 in the campaign with a another league game at Reardan Friday and a final league test against Liberty Feb. 1.

Tuesday, Colfax exploded for 32 points in the second quarter against Timberwolves. They rolled out a 48-16 lead at the half with the last two buckets in the final seconds.

Saturday at Ritzville, Colfax pegged another fast start with 20 points in the first frame. They had an 11-point lead at the break, and added 12 more points to the gap in the third quarter.

Cloaninger cooked 25 points against the Broncos who stood at 2-4 in the league run before hosting Colfax.

Asotin proved to be the toughest test for the Colfax run. The Panthers locked up Colfax at 20-20 in a first half, but the Bulldogs came out after the break and rolled out 16 quick points. Cloaninger hit two 3-pointers at the top of the quarter added a third later in the frame. Claassen added a trey and Bennett Gray dropped a bucket on a base line drive.

Colfax finished with 22 in the quarter and the Panthers added just six.

Tuesday's game with TR marked the last home appearance for Cloaninger, Hart, Gray, Bryan Rubin, and Kelan Becker,
