Bulldogs place third at Kittitas classic

Colfax wrestlers placed third Saturday at the Kittitas Coyote Classic tournament with 115 points behind the 159 win by Lake Roosevelt.

Nolan Burrill in the 120 class and Augie Allenbach in the 220 class both placed first.

Burrill won the 113 title with two byes and two pins, and Allenbach won the 220 class with a bye and three straight pins.

Kolby Sisk placed second in the 113 class, and Jacob Brown placed third in the 182 class.

Other NE teams placing at the tourney were Wilbur/Creston/Keller, sixth with 84 points, and Lind/Ritzville/Sprague 18th with 22. Pomeroy placed 13th with 45 points.

Last Thursday on the Colfax mats, Post Falls wrestlers edged Colfax 40-35. The Bulldogs actually topped the guests on the mat, but Post Falls picked up points on three forfeits in weight classes where Colfax lacked entrants.

Allenbach topped the Colfax card with two pins. He stopped Dominic Monti in the second round of the 220 class, and then pinned Austin Portner in the first round of an exhibition match. Portner wrestles in the 285 class and drew a forfeit in the team match-ups.

Nolan Burrill-120, Garrett Phillips-126, Gabe Ahman-152, Caden Noha-160 and Braeden Rogers-170 all took wins on the team card.

Noha took his win in the 160 class after opponent Tobias Balch was disqualified for a head butt. Noha had a 10-8 lead in the match before referee Terry Cochran stopped the match.

Dakota Hall, Trentin Ensley, Phillips and Kolby Slate also took wins on the exhibition card against number-two Post Falls wrestlers in the different weights.

Colfax will travel to Pomeroy Friday for a dual meet
