St. Ignatius on sale block again

Another trustee’s sale on the courthouse steps has been scheduled for the former St. Ignatius Hospital building in Colfax. The sale has been scheduled for April 12 by Elizabeth Tellessen who has served as trustee for the sale agreement for the hospital. A trustee’s sale had been slated by Tellessen for last June 8, but never took place, reportedly because assets of the sale were involved in a bankruptcy filing.

Tellessen is a member of the Winston & Cashatt law firm in Spokane.

According to the assessor’s records, Anthony Girges, Bellflower, Calif., sold St. Ignatius June 3 of 2017 for $160,000. St. Ignatius Plaza LLC, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., is listed as the primary owner.

Girges is listed as one of the beneficiaries of the deed of trust assigned to Tellessen after the sale.

Valoree Gregory, Colfax unified executive director who has conducted ghost tours in the vacant hospital building as a fundraising activity to benefit the Chamber of Commerce, said Derrick J. Fincher, 48, Spokane Valley, was the de facto purchaser of St. Ignatius.

Fincher was sentenced last Sept. 13 to 135 months in federal prison for his part in a swindling scheme which was not related to the Colfax building.

The notice of sale issued by Tellessen stated the amount due on the St. Ignatius sale is now $107,452 from St. Ignatius Plaza and $128,718 from St. Ignatius Manor Inc., both listed at the same address in Port Saint Lucie, Fla. Amount of delinquency in both sales is stated at $90,000 with the balance due for interest, late fees, attorney fees and expenses.

Any sale or bid on the April 12 sale date would be made without warranty.

The sale can be cancelled in the event the default sums listed are paid before the auction date.
