William Rubin

William Harry Rubin, our loving husband, father and grandfather, left his home on earth to enter into his heavenly home on March 1, 2019, at age 83. He was being well cared for at Good Samaritan Society in Spokane Valley at the time of his passing. Bill was born on September 16, 1935, in Colfax, Washington, to parents Alvin and Jeanette Rubin.

Bill grew up in the farming community of Onecho near Colfax, Washington. His first four years of schooling were in a one-room school house at Onecho, and the following years of education in Colfax. During his formative years, Bill learned from his parents the discipline of hard work that benefited him well throughout his lifetime.

In the year of 1954, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force and served until 1957, at which time he was given a hardship discharge to return to his family farm.

As the 60's rolled around, Bill met his wife to be, Carol Field, at his brother's wedding, both of which were attendants. After a whirlwind courtship, a wedding was planned and then performed at Onecho Mennonite Church on March 10, 1961. The marriage was blessed with four wonderful children, Dori, Cindy, Craig and Rick.

Bill had an adventurous spirit that brought us many experiences, but it was always with a heart to provide and care for his family. Over a period of years, he owned and managed two businesses, one of which was AAMCO Transmission in the Spokane Valley, and the other a western wear and shoe repair business in Colville, Wash., which came with the name "B-Bar-C", a perfect fit. Bill could adapt to whatever a job demanded whether it be driving a truck, being in sales or operating a business. When it came time for retirement, he took it pretty seriously, and his favorite place was "home sweet home".

Bill's solid foundation of faith from childhood brought strength into the marriage and in raising the family. He was also known for his quick wit amongst friends and family even into the last days of life.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughters, Dori Roberts, Spokane, Wash., and Cindy Enos, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and sons, Craig Rubin and Rick Rubin, Spokane, Wash .; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter (born four days after Bill's passing). Surviving siblings are, Barbara Steinbeck, Tempe, Ariz., Janice Mitchell, and Mark Rubin both of Colfax, Wash.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Jeanette Rubin.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Onecho Bible Church with reception following.
