A Tekoa junior high team of Eliona McElderry, right, and Kaelyn Olson, both eighth-graders, won a gold medal in food innovations for their creation of a "garlic delight," appetizer, along with accompanying cost analysis, packaging and marketing plan. Also at the state competition, Tekoa junior Madison Kalmes was elected to a second year as one of 12 FCCLA state officers. She represents region nine, stretching from south of Spokane to Asotin.
