Gar/Pal, Colton play Friday: Colton takes league lead

Down a game to Southeast 1B league-leading Pomeroy, Colton swept the Pirates at home April 27 to take the lead.

Colton won 5-2 and 6-3 as four Wildcat pitchers combined to allow just four hits on the day. Reece Chadwick and Jon Bean started the two games with seventh-inning relief from Luke Vining and Parker Druffel.

In the opener, Druffel came out with the bases loaded and struck out the next three batters.

At bat for Colton, in the second game, Bean delivered a two-out, two-RBI double in the third inning.

Further hits from Colton in the doubleheader came from Druffel, Chadwick, Kian Ankerson, Chris Wolf, Vining and Jackson Meyer.

Colton is now 11-5 on the season, 8-1 in league as Pomeroy took on their first league losses.

Colton 14-Garfield/Palouse 6

After Colton assumed first place in the league, they played Garfield/Palouse for the first time this season. At home Tuesday, the Wildcats won as Reece Chadwick hit two home runs with seven RBIs.

Colton totaled 15 hits in the game. Parker Druffel, Luke Vining and Chadwick, all seniors, combined for 10 hits, five for extra bases.

The two home runs by Chadwick included a three-run inside the park shot in the fifth inning and a two-run hit in the second inning.

Gar/Pal led early, 5-2 in the second, before Colton's Jackson Meyer took the mound at pitcher and limited the Vikings to one base hit, no walks with six strikeouts.

Colton and Gar/Pal will play again Friday for a doubleheader at Palouse. The Wildcats need to win one to clinch the Southeast 1B league title.

Wildcats sweep Touchet, St. John/ Endicott/LaCrosse

Playing at Touchet April 23, Colton took down Touchet in four innings, 19-1.

Jon Bean pitched, throwing nine strikeouts with one walk.

At the plate, Luke Vining and Kian Ankerson both had three hits.

On April 20, Colton swept a doubleheader at LaCrosse against St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse, 21-0 and 26-3.

In game one, Reece Chadwick and Parker Druffel pitched, adding up to a no-hitter.

Chadwick posted 11 strikeouts in three innings before Druffel came in for two more strikeouts in the fourth.

At bat, Druffel hit a triple to lead Colton hitters.

In game two, Jackson Meyer went 4-for-4 at bat with seven RBIs. Each of the two games was called in the fourth inning on the 10-run rule.
