Tick infestation heavy along Big Alkali Creek

Tick infestation has been so high along the Alkali Flat creeks that cattle health has been affected. Many of the ranchers have been treating their herds with a dip that helps alleviate the problem. This is an unusually high infestation due to spring conditions.

Easter dinner guests at the home of Helen and Dick Appel were Kate Wollstein, Moscow; Phil Appel, Cheney; Caroline and Rob Kunkel, Kade, Elly and Luciene, Pullman; Neil and Liz Appel, Josh, Naomi Isaac, John Paul, Grace and Michael, Dusty; and Lisa and Travis Frei, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette, Palouse.

Linda Hennigar traveled to Kennewick Friday and attended her daughter Tami Banks’ graduation from WSU/Tri-Cities Saturday. Banks earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration mainly via night classes while working full-time. The Banks hosted a reception at their home following the ceremony. It was well attended. Hennigar spent Sunday and Monday nights at the home of Ron and Linda Hiskey and returned to her own home late Monday afternoon.

Six members of the “R Brothers,” long-range rifle team stayed at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast Friday and Saturday evenings. They were competing in a competition near Benge at the Greg and Lisa Beckley ranch.

Ending the season Bible study, women of the Dusty and surrounding areas enjoyed lunch at Banyans on the Ridge on Monday at noon. The group meets every other Monday at the home of Jan Smith and will resume meetings in the fall.

Rick Bates, Braggs Creek, Alberta, Canada, spent Thursday through Saturday visiting friends in the area. He stayed with the Dale Broeckels before returning to his home. He had been working through the winter in California at a western guest ranch where he drove a mule team and wagon transporting guests.
