Asotin nips Colfax boys in sub-district at Ritzville

Asotin's boys bounced back to take a five-point win Tuesday over Colfax in the sub-district qualifier at Ritzville Tuesday. The Panthers finished the day with 106 points, and Colfax,which won the NE meet here last week finished with 101 points.

Tekoa/Rosalia which again dominated the distance events finished number-three in the sub-round with 78.33 points.

Garrett Naught again topped the 100 sprint with an 11.34 clocking and the high jump with a leap of 6-6, up two inches from last week.

Gavin Merritt again won both distance races and Issac Leighton booked a second and third. The team had three finishers among the top four in the 1600.

Colfax senior Cameron Hiatt advanced to first in the triple jump after another duel with Thomas Martin of Asotin. Hiatt, who set a Colfax record last week of 43-1, soared to a 43-7.25 for a new record and a 10-inch win over Martin.

Carson Cloaninger again cleared a 12-6 in the pole vault to dominate that event.

Asotin's girls again dominated their side of the meet with a 68-point margin over number-two St. George's.

Tuesday's sub-district meet was a qualifier for the two-day district meet which will be May 17-18 at Central Valley.

The top 12 finishers in the field events and the two distance races advance, and the top eight in the other races advance.
