All 14 branches of Whitman County Library System are closed May 17 for annual Staff Training.

St. John – 1 p.m. – Writer’s Working Group – All skill levels and interests are invited to bring your writing.

St. John – 2 p.m. – Plants of the Wild – Ms. Hutton will share fresh gardening tips, answer questions and more.

St. John – 9 a.m. – Book Club – Join in for a discussion of our latest book; bring a snack to share.

Palouse – 4 p.m. – WCL Board Meeting – The community is encouraged to attend both the public board meeting and a tour of the Palouse Branch.

Palouse – 6:30 p.m. – Cribbage Club – All ages. Kids can learn to count and everyone will have fun playing cribbage.

Wednesday, May 22

Albion, Garfield, Oakesdale, St. John – Storytime – Bring your little ones for a reading adventure.

Colfax – 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Paint-A-Pot – People of all ages are invited to drop in for a fun, free spring craft that combines gardening and art. All supplies will be provided. Attendees will receive a 15 percent discount on plants at The Modern Plantsman store in Colfax.

Garfield Park – 3:30 to 5 p.m. – Nerf Battle – Kids in grades 5 to 7 can battle it out in Capture the Flag and more.
