A new veterinary clinic is set to open in Colfax in June.
Moscow-based Affordable Veterinary Care will offer a satellite branch with hours announced as Mondays, Thursdays and the second Saturday of each month.
The clinic will be run by Dr. Erin McGillic, a Colfax resident, assisted by Alicia Liam and Cindee Carlson, another Colfax resident.
AVC Colfax will offer general healthcare for dogs and cats, including examinations, vaccinations, parasite control (fleas, ticks, worms), ear, eye and skincare, nail trims and more.
The Moscow practice is led by owner Dr. Tammy Faulkner.
The office in Colfax will be next to the new plant shop at 11 East Canyon Street.
McGillic and others are painting the space now in which they have added new laminate flooring. Equipment and shelving is next for the 400-square-foot area, a main room and a smaller room in back.
Their plan is to open June 3.
"I'm starting it up, seeing how it fits," said McGillic, a WSU veterinary school graduate originally from New Jordan, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City.
"My boss is all about charity and helping people," she said. "We'll probably add other services as we grow. Putting our feet in the water, seeing how it goes."
The office will have no x-ray or anesthesia machines.
A total of three employees will work on site, the doctor and two assistants/technicians.
"What I love about veterinary medicine is, I love the people the most," McGillic said.
