Rosalia will celebrate the 50th edition of Battle Days with a wide variety of events this weekend.
To kickoff the weekend, members of the Rosalia Float committee will host a talent show in the Rosalia High School gym at 7 p.m. Friday.
Saturday’s festivities will commence at 7 a.m. with a breakfast sponsored by the Rosalia Boy Scouts, which will be at the Fire Station until 9:30 a.m.
The Battle Days 5k/10k Fun Run will start at 8 a.m. Participants will be required to sign in at the fire station.
A kids parade will begin at 10 a.m. with the theme of “Universe of Stories.” Youngsters will line up for the parade at the front of the library.
The grand parade will begin shortly after at 10:30 a.m. and start at the north end of Rosalia.
This year’s grand marshals are Bob and Sharon Scholz from Thornton. They began to farm in the area in 1959.
Members of the Rosalia High School class of 1969, who will mark their 50-year reunion, will also be honored during the parade.
The John Wayne Pioneer Wagons & Riders, who started their 38th cross-state ride May 16, will also appear in the parade before departing on the trail for Tekoa to complete the ride.
Following the parade, the RHS sophomore class will serve a barbecue lunch at the fire station.
A beer and food garden will be open at the Rose Garage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rosalia Mayor Lee Root said most businesses will be open Saturday.
The annual car show and pin-up model competition sponsored by the Rose Garage will be from 1 to 4 p.m.
Mojo Box and Friends will perform live music starting at 4 p.m.
Other activities during Battle Days include vendors all day in the downtown area, and a student art show at the Budding Rose Art Gallery from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Inland Empire Barrel Racers will compete at the Rosalia Rodeo Grounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kids and adults can race soap box coaster cars from 1 to 8 p.m. Cars will be supplied to youngsters, but adults should build and provide their own.
The trophy presentations for Battle Days will begin at 4 p.m. in the Rose Garage.
