Two loads of asphalt took away the familiar bounce and jolt of the former railroad crossing on E. Wall Street in Colfax June 21. Rail timbers and rails were removed by city and Watco Railroad workers. A crew from Poe Asphalt laid down the new surface.

LIST RR CROSSING JOB SITES
Five more former railroad crossings in Colfax are slated to be removed and paved this year. Matt Hammer, Colfax public works director, reported state and city crews will work on the project which is tentatively slated for late September.
The city and Watco Railroad crews last week removed the wood timber crossing at Wall Street and applied a paving surface.
