Under partially sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, more than 350 people attended the Perkins House Ice Cream Social this past Sunday, June 23. This annual fundraiser by the Whitman County Historical Society featured both new and returning exhibitors.
All exhibitors and volunteers received free pie and ice cream as a thank you for their participation.
Railroad speeders cars and Quilts of Valor were on display for the first time.
The Lewis-Clark Model Train club’s N-scale model was on display, along with vintage tractors, fire truck and police motorcycle and Allen McSweeney’s Model T Ford were on display.
Ruth Enos, in vintage dress, conducted a re-enactment of “Pioneer Life on the Palouse.”
Judy McMurray received the WCHS volunteer of the year award for her tireless work at the Archives Center in Pullman.
The Snake River Six played and the event culminated with a fashion show by a dozen girls showing off vintage dresses from the Perkins collection.
Nancy Rothwell, coordinator for Perkins House, said the society appreciates the effort provided by volunteers and attendees at the annual event.
