A memorial service for James E. Evenson, 62, Palouse, was Monday, June 24, at the Palouse Federated Church with the Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. Potlatch VFW and a U.S. Army honor guard performed military honors.
Mr. Evenson died at his home in Palouse from an apparent heart attack June 15, 2019.
Born Aug. 17, 1956, at Chewelah to Ronald and Sharon McGinnis Evenson, he attended schools in Anaheim, Calif., and graduated from the Katella High School in 1974. Jim was married and later divorced.
He enlisted in the United States Army Aug. 8, 1982, and was discharged on May 10, 1995, as a retired staff sergeant.
Jim moved to Palouse in 1996, and later started working as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Moscow.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and following the Mariners. He was also an avid video gamer.
Survivors include two sons, Jason (Sara) Evenson Fort Benning, Ga., and Jared Evenson, Liberty Lake; his mother, Sharon McGinnis, Palouse; one brother, Casey Evenson, Anaheim, Calif .; one sister, Katrina Shelton, Palouse, and five grandchildren.
