After an 0-4 run in the Palouse Summer series last week, the Pullman Patriots bounced back with two league shutouts over the Spokane Bandits Tuesday night at Quann Field in Pullman.
The league wins bumped the Pats' league record to 6-2 in the Spokane Legion AAA race.
Nate Akesson of Colfax pitched a 6-0 shutout in the first game. He allowed the Bandits just four hits.
The Pats scored three runs in the first inning and that was all they needed.
In the second game Carson Coulter, Kelan Becker and Reese Chadwick combined on a one-hitter.
The Pats hammered Bandits pitchers for nine hits to bank the 8-0 shutout in the second game.
They scored once in the first inning, and then exploded for five runs in the sixth to nail it behind the solid mound performances.
The Pats are slated to play a league duo with the Cannons at Shadle Park today and finish out the league with two games Monday against Gonzaga Prep.
The 0-4 run in the summer series ended Saturday with the Seattle Tides dropping the Patriots 11-3. The Seattle team booked 12 hits against the local squad. They scored three runs in the third inning and seven in the fourth to take control.
Akesson, Peter Smith and Chadwick pitched for the Patriots.
Konner Kinkade rapped a three-run double in the fifth inning to account for all three of the Patriots' runs.
Friday, the Pats sustained a one-run loss to Rock Creek at Quann Field after stacking a 6-1 lead.
Rock Creek scored five in the bottom of the fifth to tie it and booked the tie-breaker in the bottom of the seventh.
Pullman out-hit RC 9-8 in the game with Payton Kallaher bagging a pair of doubles. Chadwick, Konner Kinkade and Mitch LaVelle each rapped a double in the game.
In first day action last Thursday, the Patriots dropped two games, 6-11 in their series opener to the Columbia Basin Riverdawgs and 8-17 to the Washington Waves.
The Patriots scored two runs in the first inning of the opener, but Riverdawgs pitcher Hunter Gibson settled down and the locals didn't score again until the sixth.
Kallaher booked two hits with a two-run homer in the first game. Becker and Tristan Wilson each had RBI singles.
Waves batters totaled 18 hits off Pat pitchers in the second game which was shut down after six innings. Chadwick had three RBIs for the Patriots in the second game.
