Guild calls for applicants

The Pullman Regional Hospital Women's Leadership Guild will accept local non-profit grant applications until Aug. 1 to fund women's and children's health causes. Grant awardees will be notified on Oct. 15.

Non-profit groups may be awarded up to $2,000. Eligible organizations must support women and children's health and wellness in the Palouse, provide a three to five minute presentation and speak at a grant award luncheon.

The Women's Leadership Guild was created in 2015, and has raised more than $100,000 for non-profits and Pullman Regional Hospital. In 2018, the guild awarded $22,000 in grants for 11 local organizations.

Some of the non-profits that have received the grant in the past are the Albion Food Pantry, Pullman Community Action Center, Palouse Care Network and Palouse Discover Science Center.

In the past, these grants have been used to purchase kitchen and sports equipment, teach cooking classes, purchase first aid supplies and provide training.

Guild members contribute $1,000 to become a member, and half of their contribution goes toward women and children's hospital needs and the other half goes to the grant fund.
