Playing at Coeur d’Alene June 29, the Whitman County Cougars American Legion baseball team (ages 13-16) earned a consolation bracket win over West Valley, 15-4, in the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen American Legion tournament.
The Cougars (13-7-1) outhit them by 15.
West Valley’s runs came on walks and two errors in the fourth inning.
Nick Robison went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Cougars’ batters, with three RBIs. Four other players had multiple hits for Whitman County, including Cody Inderrien, Braden Plummer, Elliott Lee and Brendan Doumit.
The team was set to travel to Deer Park Tuesday for a league doubleheader. The Coeur d’Alene tournament did not count in the Spokane league.

The day before in Coeur d’Alene, the Cougars played West Valley to a tie in seven innings when a time limit took effect. Doumit went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Whitman County, which once led the game 6-1. Other hits came from Robison, Nick Strenge, Lee, Joseph Bendel and Gavin Shrope.
