Patriots finish league at 8-2, bow to Kennewick

Pullman Patriots senior Legion team wrapped up Spokane league play with two wins over the Cannons last Thursday at at A.K. Jackson field at Shadle Park.

The pair of wins finished the Pats league run at 8-2 going into the district playoffs which are booked for the middle of the month.

After the two league wins, the Patriots sustained two big losses to the Kennewick Outlaws in Walla Walla.

They are now booked to play four games over the weekend at the Spokane Wooden bat tournament.

Against the Cannons last Thursday, the Patriots took the first game 11-6 and the second game 10-0 with an early shutdown after five innings on the 10-run margin rule.

Colton’s Reese Chadwick allowed the Cannons just three hits and struck out six Cannon batters in the short second game.

The Patriots had five hits in the second game with Nate Akesson, Kelan Becker and Chadwick each tagging a double.

In the first game, the Cannons took an early 4-0 lead, but the Pats took over with a seven-run charge in the fourth inning and nailed it with another three runs in the last inning for the 11-6 win.

Coming off two wins last Tuesday, the Patriots used four pitchers in the first game with Konner Kincaid, Cameron Vis, Becker and Peter Smith all doing stints on the mound.

Akesson had two hits with another double to top the Pats’ 10 hit offense. Mitch LeVielle also had two hits.

Kennewick Outlaws Saturday hammered the Pags 12-0 in the first game. They posted an 11-0 lead after two frames.

The Patriots had three hits with Payton Kallaher, LaVielle and Akesson each tagging a single.

Kennewick had seven hits, all singles, in the first game.

In the second game, the Outlaws booked a 7-0 shutout with the Pats tagging four hits. Coulter, Kallaher, LaVielle and Akesson hit singles.
