Serving Whitman County since 1877
Whitman County Genealogical Society July 15 made a $1,000 donation to the Pullman Depot Heritage Center in honor of the late Dorothy Sevier Matson (1920-2002).
Sevier Matson was a lifetime member of WCGS and donated money to the organization before her death.
Some of this money was used to establish an endowment with the Innovia Foundation, the interest from which is used to fund a scholarship each year to a graduating Pullman High School senior who writes an essay about their interest in family history, Pullman history or history in general.
Linda Hackbarth, Pullman Depot Heritage Center co-chair, who has been involved in planning the future restoration and development of the depot, received the donation. Hackbarth also led a tour of the depot following the presentation.
WCGS members unable to be present for the picture include Margery Muir, vice president, and Janet Damm, librarian.
Pictured here, left to right, are Monica Peters, corresponding secretary; Corinne Lyle, recording secretary; Linda Hackbarth; Sue Kreikemeier, president; Debbie McNeil, treasurer; Judy McMurray, newsletter editor. All but Hackbarth are WCGS Board officers.
