Colfax swim pool will close Aug. 31

Final day of operation for the Colfax swim pool will be Aug. 31. The last free midnight swim will be Friday, Aug. 30, with Greg’s Electric and the Colfax Chamber of Commerce as sponsors.

Colfax youngsters this year will face an eight-day gap between when the pool closes and the start of school which has been set for Sept. 9. The late school start this year is part on the schedule designed to allow as much time as possible for contractors who are working on the construction project in both schools.

Parks Director Steve Larkin noted the start of college terms and school sports make it difficult for the city to keep enough lifeguards to extend the pool operation.
