Nolan checks off bucket list ride in four states

Saturday, Tom and Doreen Riedner and Karen Broeckel, Dusty, were guests at the home of Greg and Gwen Nolan, Colfax, for a barbecue celebrating Greg’s milestone birthday. Other guests included Jeanette Nolan, Mark and Carol Rubin, Jay and Kathy Rubin and Bryan, Jason Nolan, all of Colfax; Pam Nolan Beasley, Waitsburg, Austin Beasley, Moses Lake, Andrew and Murphy Nolan, Patty Wieber and Brett Wieber, all of Spokane. Neighbors David and Kerry Weitz joined the group later for dessert. The day before, his actual birthday, Greg fulfilled an item on his bucket list by completing a timed ride on his motorcycle from Colfax to Oregon, into Idaho, Montana and finally home for the Iron Butt Association. For completing the event, he receives a certificate and a patch.

Reuben Stueckle, brother of David Stueckle, and his son Dan, both of Puyallup, arrived Friday to join the “John Stueckle family cousins annual reunion” Saturday. The gathering of 15 to 20 cousins and spouses met at Schmuck Park in Colfax. Reuben and Dan returned to their homes Sunday.

Iris and Owen Assareh, with parents Anna (Vogler) and Chad, spent several days helping Grandpa Mark Vogler harvest. Iris drove the combine and learned to fry chicken with Grandma Kathy. Owen drove the truck with mom Anna and Grandpa. Everyone enjoyed launching water rockets and laughing.

Kathy and Mark Vogler made a quick trip to the west side, taking in the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe with Anna and family and Henry and family. The highlight was the monster truck rally, although the school bus races were memorable.

Cari Vogler, with children Ava and Sam, accompanied the grandparents Vogler to the Apollo 11 Mission exhibition at the Boeing Museum of Flight. This exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the lunar walk. The Apollo 11 capsule, a moon rock and many artifacts from the mission are on display.

Country Bible Church will resume usual worship hours beginning at 11 a.m. starting this Sunday, Sept. 1.
