Sager duo attends Flying Farmer confab

Art and Colene Sager were delegates at the International Flying Farmer Convention in Wichita, Kan. Colene received an award for “Woman of the Year” based on her participation in both Washington-Oregon Region and the International Flying Farmers.

Included with the convention was a day of touring the area. The group of 90 members traveled in two buses and went to a salt mine which was 650 feet underground. The salt is used for road salt. Also of interest was a museum housing “Doc,” one of the eight B 29 World War II planes that have been restored into flying condition.

Labor Day weekend, Jen, Ryan, Kellen, Becket and Willa Hammons, Boise, and Carrie Pitts, Yakima, spent most of the weekend with Kim and Cindy Pitts. Kim and Cindy drove to Walla Walla that Friday to pick up the three grandkids and took them back to the farm. Saturday, Jen and Ryan drove up from Walla Walla and the Hammons family all attended the WSU football game. Everyone returned to their respective homes Sunday.

Kevin Brink and his family of Omak spent Labor Day weekend with his parents, Larry and Di Brink.

This past weekend, Tom Phillips, St. John, drove Di Brink and Joan Myrick to Seattle. They went over Friday and returned home Sunday. Di stayed with Marion and Dennis Bay; Tom stayed with Josh Bay and Joan stayed with her son Mike Myrick.

Chelsea and Scott Matthews, Denver, hosted a “Dusty Friends Breakfast” at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast establishment on Saturday. They were in the area visiting her parents, Steve and Fran Maki. Attendees at the breakfast included Steve and Fran Maki, Warren and Connie Horton and their daughter Renee, Jan and Harmon Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Maki from Camano Island, and friends of Chelsea and Scott, Emily and Wayne, who traveled with the Matthews’s from Denver.

Sunday evening dinner guests at the home of Karen Broeckel were Angela and Brian Broeckel, Dusty; Andrew Nolan, Spokane and Hannah Monsen, Chattaroy.
