Colfax boys and girls booked team wins Tuesday in the Josh Wright Memorial cross country opener at Northwest Christian. The Bulldogs boys finished with a 42 for an 16-point edge over number-two Valley Christian.
Other team scores were NW Christian 93, Newport 97, Kettle Falls 110 and Chewelah 116.
Colfax girls edged Kettle Falls, the only other team entry, by a point, 27 28.
Junior Kolby Slate topped the Bulldog boys with a second-place finish at 13.07 behind the 12:14 win posted by Kettle’s Easton Pomrankey over the rugged course in the Colbert hills.
Tekoa/Rosalia senior Issac Leighton finished third at 13:12.
Joshua Huber and Dyamin Vanek finished fourth and fifth at 13.28 and 13.41.
Other finishers for Colfax were Kolby Sisk, 18th at 14:37; Jackson Perry, 19th at 14:39; Cole Baerlocher, 26th at 15:10; Kyle Dail, 27th at 15:11; Ryan Henning, 28th at 15:12; Ryan Baljo, 30th at 15:16, and Sam Kopp, 53rd at 17:47.
Other finishers for Tekoa/Rosalia were Austin Goyke, 56th at 18:32, and Alex McHargue, 59th at 18:50.
SJEL finishers were Rory Maloney, 45th at 16:38, and Tucker Thompson, 52nd at 17:33.
Colfax girls made a solid team mark with three finishers in the top 10. They included Anna Cocking, eighth at 17:26; Madison Dingman, ninth at 17:312, and Miya Ensley, 10th at 17:453.
Chloe Jones of Newport won the girls race with a 15:17. She was 30 seconds ahead of number-two Emily Montgomery of Kettle Falls.
Catherine Treis of SJEL had the top finish for the county entrants at sixth with a 17:06.
Other finishers for Colfax were Hannah Baerlocher, 18th at 19:01; Jorja Slate, 19th at 19:18; Emma Miller, 31st at 21:54, and Madeline Tate, 38th at 26:33.
Other finishers for the Eagles were Ellie Tollett, 13th at 18; Lauren Stubbs, 14th at 18:07, and Marianne Treis, 24th at 20:47.
Freshman Trinity Bingamon led the Tekoa/Rosalia girls with an 18:31 for 15th. Other finishers for TR were Arianna Casey, 23rd at 20:34, and Crystal Anderson, 39th at 26:58.
