RTOP to stage comedy 'Same Time Next Year'

"Same Time Next Year," a romatic comedy will be peformed Sept. 20-28 at Regional Theatre of the Palouse in Pullman.

Written in 1975 by Bernard Slade, the original Broadway production starred Ellen Burstyn and Charles Grodin. Burstyn won a Tony Award for Best Actress for her role as Doris. The film adaptation premiered in 1978 with Burstyn reprising her role alongside Alan Alda.

The play follows an accountant and a housewife who meet at an inn in Northern California. They share a night of passion and then have annual trysts over the course of 25 years.

Opening night is Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Other show dates are Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Closing night is Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
