Serving Whitman County since 1877
United Way of Pullman is changing its name to United Way of Whitman County.
Eric Fejeran, board president, said that this name change was a long time coming.
“Our partner agencies and programs serve the community throughout Whitman County and not just the City of Pullman,” Fejeran said. “We are hoping that this inclusive name will open up new fundraising opportunities throughout Whitman County, as well as open the door for more agencies to apply for funding.”
This local organization is dedicated to improving the health, education and financial stability of Whitman County residents by the power of community.
According to the United Way of Whitman County webpage, United Way raises vitally-needed funds for its partner agencies with the help of generous contributions from local individuals and companies.
United Way of Whitman County has a network of 17 local youth, health and social services agencies including, Boost Collaborative, Girl Scouts of Eastern, Washington and Northern Idaho, YMCA of the Palouse and many more.
Nearly all money donated to United Way stays on the Palouse.
According to United Way's webpage, 85 percent of the funds are given to area agencies, 10 percent for fund-raising costs and five percent for administrative costs.
The United Way Board of Directors is composed of local residents who represent the broad spectrum of the community.
“We will be sending our save the dates soon for our second United Way Champion's Event in November,” Fejeran said. “This is a time for us to honor our donors and bring together community leaders and partner agencies.”
Fejeran encourages community members to keep an eye out for invitations.
There are 21 United Way organizations in Washington.
United Way of Whitman County is always looking for volunteers and advocates to support the community.
