Colfax volleyball players booked two league sweeps on their home court over the week to finish out the first lap of NE-South league play at 4-1. The Bulldogs took out the LRS Broncos in three straight last Thursday, and they defeated Tekoa/Rosalia in three straight on the home court Tuesday.
Next action will be Tuesday when Asotin travels to Colfax to start the second round.
Lone loss for the Bulldogs came against Liberty in their first league outing.
Tuesday, the Bulldogs swept the Timberwolves 25-7, 25-12 and 25-6.
In the second set, Colfax ran 19 straight points before the ball went over TR on a missed serve. Elise Wilkins hit a tip for a 20-2 score before Colfax made a final run.
The Timberwolves posted a 3-1 lead in the third game with Colfax missing a serve and Trista Bogenreif hitting an ace. Another missed Colfax serve put the score at 3-1, but the Bulldogs tied it at 3-3 with an ace shot by Anni Cox.
Colfax gradually pulled away with Kierstyn York running serves to 13-7.
It ended with Asher Cai at the serve line for the last five Colfax points.
York hit seven kills in the match, and Cox had nine digs. Justice Brown had 14 assists and nine aces.
Bogenreif had seven assists for TR, and Ava Rambo had two kills. Maddie Hall booked three digs for the visitors.
Thursday against LRS in their first match on the home court, Colfax swept the Broncos 25-19, 27-25 and 25-15.
Colfax cruised to a win in the first set, but they had to battle back in the second set after the Broncos staked an early 10-5 lead with Taylor Galbreath at the serving line.
Colfax came back to take a 22-18 lead, but the Broncos fought back to a 25-25 tie. Colfax booked the last two points for the set win with York rapping a kill, and Cox hitting a cross-court return which the Broncos couldn't handle.
Brown put up 25 assists for the Bulldogs, and Cox had 17 digs. Sophie Klaveano hit 10 kills, and York hit four aces.
In the Sheridan Class at Spokane Friday and Saturday, Colfax defeated Wilbur/Creston in the first round in the Bronze bracket and advanced to the semi-final with a win over Orting. They defeated the Wildcats 25-19, 25-18, and stopped Orting 25-12, 25-20.
Riverside stopped Colfax in three, 20-25, 25-17, 15- 7 in the semi round to advance of the finals. Riverside went on to win the Bronze bracket with a two-game win over West Valley.
