Women's Leadership Guild funds eight grants to nonprofits

The Women’s Leadership Guild will give $16,000 in grants raised by yearly contributions made from members of the organization.

“Those contributions are split 50/50 to fund the grant pool and the highest needs for Pullman Regional Hospital,” said Stephanie Pierce, assistant director of development for the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation.

These grants will be $2,000 each, going to eight different nonprofit organizations that align with the Women's Leadership Guild goal of empowering women and children through health and wellness.

The recipients of these grants are Albion Food Pantry, Jefferson Elementary Outdoor Learning Lab and Garden, Northwest Cancer Foundation of Hope, Palouse Habitat for Humanity, Palouse School Food Pantry, Pullman Child Welfare and Pullman Food Bank, Pullman Schools Pantry Program and Whitman County Friends of CASA.

Money for these grants is raised through membership contributions and networking events.

Pierce said to date the Guild has awarded more than $104,000 to local non-profits and Pullman Regional Hospital.

According to the Guild's website, Women’s Leadership Guild has been building a tribe of passionate, take-action, community-focused women who want to empower women and children to live better, healthier lives. This organization has been running since 2015.

Pierce mentioned back in May the Guild hosted its inaugural event, Girlfriends Gather. This event awarded $7,800 to Families Together for People with Disabilities. She said May 2020 they will host this event again and hope to make a bigger impact.

“The Guild is growing and we’re so excited to fund projects that improve the health and wellness of women’s and children’s health on the Palouse,” Pierce said.
