Serving Whitman County since 1877
Colfax holiday season will launch with Winterfest next Thursday, Dec. 5, with a visit from Santa Claus, the Festival of Trees at the library, a lighted parade, fireworks and store specials.
Santa will hear children’s gift requests at the library from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Complimentary photos will be available from photographer Aly Sterman or parents can take their own photos.
At 6 p.m., Santa will roll down Main Street as part of the lighted parade which will culminate with a fireworks display launched from the east hill.
The Festival of Trees features special decorated trees which will be on display in The Center during the Christmas season.
Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite tree, browse the artwork, enjoy free hot cocoa from Whitman Hospital and participate in kid’s activities.
Adults can purchase a chance to win a variety of prizes from the “12 Ways of Giving” Tree sponsored by Pioneer Title Company. All proceeds benefit children’s library programs countywide.
Entries for the lighted Christmas parade are still welcome with information available from the Colfax Chamber of Commerce at 509-279-1220.
