Gene D. Savitz passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease on October 25, 2019, at his home at Cristwood Park Independent Living in Shoreline, Wash.
Gene was born on May 1, 1928, to Ralph and Florence Savitz in Tekoa, Wash. He graduated from Tekoa High School in 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1946-1948.
He enrolled at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., where he met and married Jimogene (Jimmie) Gulick on September 15, 1950. He graduated in 1952, with a B.A. in Education and later received his M.A. in Education, in 1962.
Gene taught in Waterville, Pomeroy, and Central Valley in Spokane; also Shorecrest and Shorewood High School, in Shoreline, Wash. He retired in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Florence Savitz; and his brothers Vern, Bill, Harvey, Wallace, and Gerald. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jimmie; brother, Jim (JoAnn) Savitz of Tacoma, Wash; and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He will be inurned at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is handling the local arrangements.
